Security researchers at Cyble Research and Intelligence Labs (CRIL) uncovered cybercriminals using the domain “chat-gpt-pc.online” to lure unsuspecting users into downloading the Windows desktop client for ChatGPT.

The cybercriminals utilized a Facebook page that mimicked OpenAI, complete with the official ChatGPT logo, to redirect unsuspecting users to the malicious site.
openai-pc-pro.online
Experts at CRIL also identified an unknown type of malware distributed through the domain “openai-pc-pro.online,” a malicious domain posing as the official ChatGPT website.

The suspicious domain redirects users to a fake OpenAI website that closely resembles the official site. This site features a “DOWNLOAD FOR WINDOWS” button, which, when clicked, downloads an executable file containing data-stealing malware.

ChatGPT AI, the fake ChatGPT Facebook page, also includes posts containing links to “chat-gpt-pc.online,” another domain leading users to a dangerous ChatGPT-themed website.
chatgpt-go.online
The domain “chatgpt-go.online” directs users to a website that mimics the official ChatGPT site. However, this copy-paste site replaces the “TRY CHATGPT” button link with a malicious link containing Lumma Stealer. The domain also hosts various types of malicious files, including clipper and data-stealing malware.
ChatGPT1
The Cyble report highlights another malware application using the ChatGPT icon. The malicious app, “ChatGPT1,” is a fraudulent SMS billing scam app downloaded as chatGPT1.apk. It operates discreetly, subscribing users to premium services without their consent.
AI Photo
“AI Photo” is another app using the ChatGPT icon but with malicious intent. This app was found to contain the SpyNote malware, capable of stealing device files, contact lists, call logs, and text messages.
